FAQ

Pest Control questions, answered.

Straight answers for Richmond homes and businesses. Can't see yours? Ask us.

Is Richmond Pest Control a pest control company?

No. We're a referral service. We publish local guidance and pass your request to an independent pest control provider that covers your area. They do the inspection, the quote and the work. See how referrals work.

How much does pest control cost in Richmond?

It depends on the pest. Two Metro Vancouver price lists we checked in 2026 start at about $195 for a single wasp nest, $240 (exterior only) to $450 (three visits) for a rat program, $525 for bed bugs and $1,300 to $1,500 for carpenter ants. Other companies publish higher prices. Each service page has a table.

Does it cost anything to use this site?

No. Sending a request is free and you are never obliged to book. Providers may pay us for enquiries or advertising. Each provider sets its own price and quotes you directly.

How quickly will someone contact me?

We aim to pass requests on within one business day. How soon a provider can visit depends on their schedule and the season. To reach us, send the form, call the number at the top of the page or email.

Is rat poison legal in BC?

The strongest type is not allowed in homes. Since January 21, 2023, BC has prohibited second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides in residential buildings, with exemptions for certain essential services. Providers rely on trapping and sealing entry points for houses and condos.

Who pays for pest control in a rental?

In BC, landlords are generally responsible for arranging and paying for pest control in rental housing. A tenant who caused a problem or made it worse, for example by not reporting it, may be asked to contribute afterward. Tenants are expected to report pests promptly and cooperate with treatment. For a dispute, the Residential Tenancy Branch is the authority.

What should I ask a provider before I book?

Ask for their business name, proof of insurance and, where pesticides will be used, their BC pesticide user service licence, exactly what the price includes, how many visits are covered, what preparation you need to do and what happens if the problem comes back.

Are treatments safe for children and pets?

Modern treatments are targeted: baits in cracks, traps in enclosed stations, products applied where people and pets don't touch. Tell the provider about children, pets, fish tanks and anyone with asthma or allergies, and follow their instructions on when to re-enter.

Tell us what you've noticed.

A few details about the problem and your neighbourhood is all it takes to get connected with a local provider.
